What is Physical Therapy vs Wellness Program?

The traditional Physical Therapy approach is a medically-based service that helps people suffering from pain, discomfort, disabilities, or recovering after surgery that limit their physical performance, work, or activities of daily living. The evaluation and treatments are to specifically address these medical related issues and help people return to their prior level of function based on “medical necessity.”

Our Wellness Program provides wellness/fitness sessions for general health, strength, and fitness with skilled one-one guidance from a Doctor of Physical Therapy. The Wellness Program is appropriate for those who have been discharged from traditional physical therapy care and want to improve beyond what insurance covers, seeking preventative care, or already manage their specific medical issues, pain, or dysfunction.

Yes, Dr. Toki Tahara, PT, DPT is highly experienced in modifying care to safely accommodate complex medical conditions (ex: arthritis, osteoporosis, joint replacements, neurological conditions, and balance issues.) Every session is 1-on-1 and precisely tailored to how your body feels that day, ensuring your absolute safety and comfort. She specializes in gentle hands-on manual therapy/massage, customized stretching, and exercise tailored to each person’s needs.

Note: Enjoy Life’s traditional physical therapy services are Medicare B/ out-of-network outpatient level care, not considered homecare due to home-bound criteria.

Do you accept Insurance?

Enjoy Life Physical Therapy and Wellness is private pay/ out-of-network with all commercial health plans. At your request, we can provide you with a “super bill” that you can submit to your health plan for reimbursement. Currently accepting inquires regarding Medicare.

You are responsible for contacting your insurance company to determine what your benefits are and to obtain any necessary physician referrals and/or pre-authorizations for coverage.

Will insurance cover the Wellness Program? 

Generally, wellness programs are not a covered benefit under health plans. Feel free to contact your HSA or FSA card issuers for coverage information.
